How To Build A Minecraft TNT Cannon
Building a TNT cannon is great fun, especially if you want to try blowing stuff up from a distance. Here is how you can make a basic, functional TNT cannon in minutes.
Materials
You will need the following:
16 x Obsidian
1 x Quartz slab
2 x TNT (minimum)
2 x Stone buttons
12 x Redstone dust
1 x Water bucket
Step One The Barrel
Start by building a U shape on the ground using your obsidian blocks. This is the barrel of the cannon, and it should be seven blocks long, with an opening facing the direction you want to shoot your TNT.
Step Two The Nozzle
Place the slab in the opening, and to the immediate right or left of it place your final obsidian block so it is two blocks high on one side. This block is where you will attach the ammo, slightly above the quartz slab.
Step Three The Propellent
Place the water source block at the end of the cannon, as far away from the quartz slab as you can. This water is going to push the lit TNT towards the opening so it can propel the ammo.
Step Four The Firing Mechanism
Place the stone buttons on either side of the cannon’s rear and run redstone dust up the left and right-hand sides of the barrel. The redstone should stop one block before the quartz slab on one side and run onto the ammo holder on the other.
Step Five The Ammunition
Now all you have to do is prime your cannon. Attach a piece of TNT to the ammo holder and then up to four blocks on the ground where the water is. Make sure you don’t accidentally delete the water source block. The more TNT you load into the barrel at this stage, the further the final block will be thrown.
Step Six Fire!
To fire the cannon, press the button on the left to prime the first four blocks, and then a second or two later press the button on the right to prime the ammo. Now remember to stand back.
Step Seven Take Cover!
At this point, the water will push the primed TNT towards the end of the barrel, and when those blocks explode, the final piece should go flying forwards. There will be a huge explosion at the end of the barrel, but the water should protect the components from being damaged.
Step Eight Survey Your Handiwork
If all has gone well, the TNT will blow up when it lands, taking a chunk of landscape with it. You can reuse this cannon by simply loading it up with TNT again and again!
