Team Sonic Racing Tips
Team Sonic Racing is a kart-style racer with a difference. It is not enough for one Sonic superstar to cross the finish line first – you need to make sure your whole team comes out in front!
This means mastering a bunch of team racing techniques, plus a selection of sweet power-ups and some of the most challenging kart courses around.
Sonic, Tails, Amy and Knuckles all get their turn in the driver’s seat, along with other favourites from the spiky blue hero’s best games. And while it is the multiplayer action that will keep you coming back, there is a meaty co-op story mode to get through, not to mention time trial challenges and some cool car customisation tools.
Where other kart racers only want to rip off Mario Kart, this one is packed with fresh ideas – and almost too much Sonic speed to handle!
Quick Tips
Share the Spoils
Got a power-up you don’t want to use? Tap the B or circle button to find out if someone else on your team can use it. They might have a power-up for you later. If so, tap B to accept it.
Take a Shortcut
There are dozens of different routes you can take through each race. Try taking different directions to see if a shortcut will give you an advantage over the other team.
Boost!
Drive over the pink boost markers every chance you get. They will give you an instant speed-up and push you ahead of the competition.
Slingshot
Teammates racing ahead of you leave a yellow slipstream behind them. Drive inside it and your car will get a speed boost. You can use it to slingshot in front of your buddy.
Skim-Boost
See a teammate skidding or struggling because they have been hit by a rocket or obstacle? Speed close by them, and they will speed up nicely and regain control of their car.
Rival Team Takedowns
Sometimes the other team doesn’t play fair, so why should you? Hit them with power-ups or shunt them off the track, and you will get a rival team takedown bonus.
Ultimate Speed
Keep up the team boosts and takedowns, and you will charge up your Team Ultimate power. Trigger it to go and get a whopping speed boost. You can make it last longer if two or more of you activate the power at once.
Customise Your Ride
Between races, you can give your car an upgrade. Win and you earn credits to buy mod pods, which give you new parts to boost your speed, acceleration, or handling.
Team Sonic Racing features fifteen favourite Sonic heroes and villains divided into different teams. If you don’t want to field Sonic, Tails and Knuckles, how about Metal Sonic, Dr Eggman and Shadow?
